How did you hear about us?

Wow, well another year has passed & another Complete Campsite Camp-out has come & gone. For this year’s Camp-out we made our way to Charleville – the largest town in South West Queensland, boasting some of the finest architecture & richest heritage of the bygone era.

Charleville has the comforts of the city, charm of the outback & lots of things to see & do.

We arrived at The Evening Star Tourist Park Friday afternoon, on the outskirts of Charleville, for what was going to be a fantastic weekend of catching up with our valued customers. We had 37 people in 11 Exodus, 3 Hard Floor & 2 soft floor campers. With campers attending from Mildura to Mackay.

After a quick set up (the kind that only Complete Campsite can offer) we were relaxing & starting to unwind. Getting into the festivities we kicked off with happy hour, with the drinks & stories flowing it made for a lovely evening.

Saturday morning we all departed camp at 9:30am en-route to our WWII Top Secret USA Base Convoy Tour. Our guide Monique showed us around what would have been the top secret base which at the height of the war had over 3500 airmen (that’s Charleville’s population today). On tour we were able to view one of the few Norden Bomb Sights, the servicemens Bitumen baths, the hospital, the mess hall & the dance hall. Along with many other sights.

Saturday Activity Afternoon involved an all in very high stakes tournament of Finska – kindly donated for use by the Zamparutti’s (thanks heaps guys – it was a total hit!!). I think Finska will now be sold out as all of us want to have this game in our own collections haha.

The winners of the Finska tournament were Peter & Freddo – congrats guys & well done on the steal!!

The kids also tried their hand at some bush craft, with some fantastic results, well done Finn, Xavier & Adam!!

Saturday night was a night to be remembered with the whole group attending a dinner provided by the Evening Star Tourist Park in their barn, complete with beautiful fire pit. As we were heading to the Cosmos Centre later that night for a private observatory session the theme for dinner was ‘Out of this World Hats’ and there were some serious contenders for the best hat prize!!

But the winner was Adam for the elements of safety mixed with creativity, well done mate!!!!

Throughout the weekend the Complete Campsite spy’s were at work getting ready to issue fun fines – all in the name of charity – to those breaking the rules (clearly rules made up by us because we can haha)

These fines along with other generous donations allowed us to raise $300 for the Cystic Fibrosis Federation. I have spoken with my contact at CFNSW & she is so grateful & appreciative of our efforts!!! A fantastic show of charity from one & all, well done to everyone!

The evening was not over yet, after dinner we made our way to the Cosmos Centre, all very excited to see what our galaxy had to offer & more!!

We were very lucky that the clouds stayed away although making the night just a tad chilly, but it was perfect to fire up the telescopes & check out the stars of the Southern Cross, Saturn, the Moon & more….
A wonderful evening had by all.

Sunday morning consisted of a relaxed start & pack up for those heading off & another Finska tournament for those staying.
